Nathan Paul GERVAIS arrested

Nearly two years after his disappearance, a Calgary man wanted on warrants for first-degree murder has been arrested abroad and will be returned to Calgary next week.

After a lengthy investigation, Nathan Paul GERVAIS, 22, was returned to Canada from Vietnam on Friday, Feb. 9, 2018.

Upon his entry to Canada, GERVAIS was arrested by members of the Calgary Police Service on a Canada-wide warrant for the 2013 homicide of Lukas STRASSER-HIRD.

STRASSER-HIRD, 18, was killed in downtown Calgary on Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013. He died as the result of stab wounds.‎ Warrants for GERVAIS's arrest were issued in April 2016 when he failed to show up for trial.

The CPS would like to extend thanks to the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam for its cooperation and hard work on this case. The Service would also like to thank the RCMP, INTERPOL, and Canada Border Services Agency.

An availability regarding GERVAIS’s arrest and return to Canada will be made available in the coming days.
