Investigation ongoing into Bridgeland pedestrian collision

We are continuing to investigate a theft and related collision that occurred in the northeast community of Bridgeland earlier today.

At approximately noon, today, Friday, June 26, 2026, a man stole a bag from a victim who was sitting on a park bench near McDougall Road and 9 Street N.E. In his attempt to flee, the man ran into the northbound lanes of 9 Street N.E., where he was struck by a passing truck and trailer. The man was transported to hospital in life-threatening condition, where he remains. The driver of the truck remained on scene.

Officers from our Traffic Section attended the scene to investigate and are in the process of identifying the man. All roads in the area have since reopened.

At this time, there is no evidence that alcohol, drugs or speed, on the part of the driver, were factors in this collision.
