Investigation ongoing after woman’s body located in alley

We continue to investigate after a woman’s body was left in the Forest Heights area earlier this week.

At approximately 9:10 a.m., on Monday, April 17, 2023, we were called for reports that a woman’s body had been located in the alley behind the 700 block of 40 Street S.E. Police attended the scene and began investigating.

An autopsy was completed today, Wednesday, April 19, 2023, by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, and the victim has been identified as Brianna Shelby KRISTJANSON, 25, of Okotoks. Investigators are awaiting further testing, and at this time, her manner of death remains undetermined.

It is believed that the victim’s death occurred at another location and that her body was transported to the alley in Forest Heights. Investigators continue to determine whether or not KRISTJANSON’s death was criminal in nature and are looking to speak with anyone who may have information about the events leading up to her death.

“While we have received information from the public, we still have a lot of unanswered questions,” says Staff Sergeant Sean Gregson of the Homicide Unit. “We continue to ask for the public’s help from anyone who may have recently been with KRISTJANSON, or for any dashcam or CCTV footage from the area so that we can establish an investigative timeline as well as determine how she ended up in the alley.”

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact police by calling 403-266-1234. Tips can also be submitted anonymously to Crime Stoppers through any of the following methods:
