UPDATE: Homicide suspect charged

The man arrested for the homicide of Sharilyn Shelley Ann GAGNON has officially been charged by a Justice of the Peace.

Vladimir Ngbangbo SOKI, 29, of Calgary, has been charged with second-degree murder. He also faces aggravated assault charges in relation to the serious assault of another man. He will next appear in court on Monday, March 29, 2021.

Homicide suspect in custody

We continue to investigate the homicide that occurred earlier this week at the Airport Traveller’s Inn. Evidence has also linked the incident to a serious assault on a man who remains in hospital with serious, life-altering injuries.

“We currently have one suspect in custody in relation to Tuesday’s homicide and serious assault,” said Homicide Unit Staff Sergeant Martin Schiavetta. “Our detectives continue to investigate and believe this was a targeted attack and that it was domestic in nature.”

The suspect cannot be named until he has been formally charged by a Justice of the Peace.

This is Calgary’s second homicide of 2021.
