Firearms and drugs seized in drug-trafficking investigation

Police have charged one man following a downtown drug-trafficking investigation that culminated in the seizure of a loaded gun, restricted ammunition and more than $110,000 in illicit drugs.

On Tuesday, April 4, 2023, officers attempted to stop a black, 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee following a traffic offence in East Village. The Jeep fled from officers who then commenced an investigation into the potential driver and their activity. On Thursday, April 20, 2023, officers attempted to stop the Jeep, however, it once again fled from police.

Combining investigative evidence and information from the public led officers to execute a search warrant on Thursday, Jan. 25, 2024, at a residence in the 300 block of Third Street S.E. Two men were located within the residence and several items were seized including:

·        5.1 grams of crack cocaine

·        103 grams of cocaine

·        1,001 grams of fentanyl

·        $1,075 cash

·        Equipment used in the production of crack cocaine and fentanyl

·        Sig Sauer P320, loaded with nine rounds

·        10-round magazine, loaded with nine rounds

·        30-round (prohibited) magazine loaded with 29 rounds

Khamis Bon Jacob WOLTER, 32, of Calgary, faces 17 charges including:

·        One count of proceeds of crime

·        Two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking

·        Two counts of production for the purpose of trafficking

·        One count of unsafe storage of a firearm

·        One count of possession of a firearm knowingly unauthorized

·        One count of possession of a prohibited weapon

·        One count of possession of a firearm with ammunition

·        One count of possession of a weapon obtained by crime

·        One count of possession of a firearm with serial number altered

·        Three counts of possession of a firearm contrary to prohibition order

·        Three counts of disobeying a court order

WOLTER remains in/released from custody and will next appear in court on Friday, Feb. 16, 2024.

The second person arrested at the residence was released without charge.

“Drug trafficking and gun violence go hand-in-hand. This is a great example of good police work, combined with information from the public resulting in the removal of dangerous items from our streets,” says Staff Sergeant Kurt Jacobs, District 1 General Investigations Section.
