Fire in St. Andrews Heights an arson
The Calgary Police Service has determined that a residential fire that occurred in St. Andrews Heights early last month was started by arson.
At approximately 4:15 a.m., on Sunday, May 6, 2018, Calgary Fire Department (CFD) crews were called to the 2600 block of 12 Avenue N.W., after a resident realized that his house was on fire. The two people inside the residence were able to get out without injuries and crews were able to contain the fire. The fire caused an estimated $500,000 in property damage.
The Calgary Police Service Arson Unit and CFD Fire Investigators determined that the fire was intentionally started on the exterior of the home while the residents were inside. Police located CCTV video from neighbouring homes and are asking for the public’s help to identify a person seen in the area.
