City of Calgary Newsroom now offers more content

The City of Calgary Newsroom has a new look and more content. Beginning Feb. 25, the home site for all City news releases and advisories newsroom.calgary.ca will feature enhancements and original stories, photos and video to better serve Calgary’s media and citizens.

The new look will see Fire and Police housed in their own sub-pages for easy access. There is a video centre housing the latest City of Calgary videos and a direct link for media to send inquiries. There is an image library and a document centre for downloadable graphics and reports as well as a roundup of social media sent out by The City on its official channels.

The new Newsroom will also include a weekly ‘This Week in History’ feature as well as original content that highlights programs, people and places that may be of interest to local media. The first week will feature the above-mentioned ‘This Week in History’ as well as an explainer piece on how drinking water gets from our rivers to our kitchen table. There is also an interview with outgoing City Manager Jeff Fielding speaking on everything from his advice to his successor to his favourite karaoke song.

Our goal is to generate content on a regular basis to better serve our media partners and citizens. All content on the site is available for media use including photos and video.

As always, we welcome your feedback on the changes and what we can do to better serve the media and the important role it plays in Calgarians’ lives.
