Charges stayed against three CPS members

Earlier today, the Calgary Police Service was notified that criminal charges against three officers were stayed.

The members were originally charged in relation to an incident that was alleged to have occurred in January 2010. In August 2017, Sgt. Mark Schwartz and Det. Paul Rubner were charged with kidnapping and assault, and Det. Reagan Hossack was charged with kidnapping.

Although the charges were recommended at the time by the Crown, they have further reviewed the file and all related criminal charges have now been stayed.
