Charges laid in July 2018 pedestrian collision - Richmond Road S.W.

The Calgary Police Service has charged a man in relation to fatal pedestrian collision in July 2018.

At approximately 12:45 p.m., on Monday, July 16, 2018, a 75-year-old man was crossing the street in a marked intersection at Richmond Road and Crowchild Trail S.W. A cyclist traveling northbound on Richmond Road failed to stop for a red light at the intersection and struck the pedestrian.

The pedestrian suffered serious injuries and was transported to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries on Thursday, July 19, 2018.

Paul Joseph MACNEIL, 24, of Calgary, has been charged with failing to stop at an intersection red light.

He will next appear in court on March 1, 2019.
