Charges laid in Edgepark Way N.W. homicide

The Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit has laid charges in connection to a recent homicide in Edgemont.

At approximately 2:15 p.m., on Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2019, police were called to a residence in the 200 block of Edgepark Way N.W., for reports of a suspicious death.

When officers arrived they found a man deceased.

Vincent FONG, 36, of Calgary, has been charged with second-degree murder.

An autopsy for the victim is scheduled for tomorrow, Friday, Jan. 11, 2019.

Based on current investigative details, this case is believed to be domestic in nature.

There is no public safety concern and no investigative necessity in the homicide investigation that requires us to release the name of the victim. The wishes of the homicide victim’s family are also considered as they are considered victim’s in this tragic situation.

Pursuant to the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act we are therefore unable to release the name of the homicide victim.

No further details will be released.
