Charges laid in CTrain collision involving pedestrian

We have charged a CTrain operator in relation to a CTrain collision involving a pedestrian in April 2025.

At approximately 8:15 a.m., on Thursday, April 17, 2025, police were called to the Banff Trail Station, located at 2374 Banff Trail N.W., for reports of an 11-year-old pedestrian who was struck by a CTrain.

At that time, it is believed the pedestrian was crossing in the marked crosswalk as the CTrain entered the LRT station travelling northbound, resulting in the CTrain colliding with the pedestrian.

The pedestrian sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital for treatment.

Following an investigation by our Traffic Unit, we have charged Gordon Steve FERDINANDS, 60, with dangerous operation causing bodily harm.

FERDINANDS is scheduled to next appear in court on Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2025.
