Police investigate CTrain collision involving pedestrian

We continue to investigate an injury collision involving a CTrain and a pedestrian that occurred this morning at the Banff Trail Station.

At approximately 8:15 a.m., on Thursday, April 17, 2025, we were called to the Banff Trail Station, located at 2374 Banff Trail N.W., for reports of an 11-year-old pedestrian who was struck by a CTrain.

It is believed at the time of the collision, the pedestrian was crossing on the marked crosswalk. As the CTrain entered the LRT station going northbound, the pedestrian barriers were not down, resulting in the CTrain colliding with the pedestrian.

The pedestrian sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to hospital for treatment.

The driver of the train was taken into custody as part of the investigation.

Our Traffic Unit continues to investigate the circumstances of the collision, and anyone with information is asked to contact police by calling 403-266-1234. Tips can also be submitted anonymously to Crime Stoppers through any of the following methods:
