Charges laid in copper theft from medical supply business
We have charged one man following a copper pipe theft that caused significant damage to a medical supply facility last summer.
On Thursday, July 24, 2025, a medical supply business located in the 400 block of 19 Street S.E., contacted police to report a break and enter at its production facility, where temperature-sensitive, lifesaving dialysis materials were stored. It is believed that a man entered the site multiple times over the course of a week, stealing custom vehicle rims and copper piping from refrigeration units used to cool the company’s warehouse. The theft caused the refrigeration units to fail, resulting in approximately $400,000 in damages.
Following a media report about the incident, a member of the public came forward with information. After an extensive investigation, officers were able to identify and locate an offender.
Peter Roy THEDORFF, 52, of Calgary, has been charged with three counts of break and enter and one count of mischief. THEDORFF will next appear in court on Thursday, April 30, 2026.
The damage extended well beyond the theft itself, disrupting the storage of lifesaving medical products and creating real impacts in our community. We are grateful to the member of public who came forward with information to help investigators hold this individual accountable.
