Calgary Fire Department Responds to Fourplex Fire in Highland Park.

At approximately 11:20 am this morning Calgary Fire Department (CFD) crews were called to a basement fire in a fourplex in the 3600 block of Center street N. Smoke and flames were showing from the front of the building when firefighters arrived on scene. Firefighters quickly initiated a fire attack and interior search and were able to knock down and control the main body of fire.

One resident from the source suite and 4 residents from the above suite were able to self-evacuate, the resident from the source suite was assessed by AHS, but was not transported.  The residents will be displaced as the suites are not habitable.

Calgary Police Service assisted with area traffic control, while Enmax and Atco were also present to assist with scene safety.

Crews remain on scene at this time to ensure the fire is extinguished and a fire investigator is currently conducting an investigation into the cause.
