Additional charges laid in the homicide of Jesse GEORGE

Investigators have charged a second man with manslaughter in relation to the fatal shooting of Jesse GEORGE, which occurred last month.

Just before 10 p.m., on Saturday, March 27, 2021, we were called to the 5200 block of Memorial Drive S.E., for reports of shots fired. Upon arrival, a man in his 30s was found on the street in medical distress. Despite the efforts of first responders, he died at the scene.

The victim was identified as Jesse Shaye Troy GEORGE, 30, of Calgary.

On Monday, March 29, 2021, John TABLER, 41, of Calgary, was charged with one count of second-degree murder.

After reviewing additional evidence, police identified a second man who is believed to have been involved in the homicide. On Wednesday, April 28, 2021, officers contained a residence located in the 5200 block of Memorial Drive S.E. Using resources from multiple units, including Patrol, the Tactical Team, and Fugitive Apprehension Team, the suspect was taken into custody without incident.

Martin Wallace YUEN, 51, of Calgary, has been charged with one count of manslaughter. YUEN will next appear in court on Thursday, May 6, 2021.

The victim was known to both accused in this case, and the homicide is believed to be the result a personal dispute.

“Our investigations do not stop once a suspect is charged,” says Staff Sergeant Martin Schiavetta of the Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit. “In each case, we continue to review the evidence and if it is believed anyone else was involved in the commission of the homicide, no matter how small their involvement is, we will lay additional charges.”
