Police investigating suspicious death in Crescent Heights

The Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit is investigating a suspicious death in the community of Crescent Heights.

At approximately 4:20 a.m., police were called to the area of 12 Avenue N.E., and Centre Street N., for a report of a man who appeared to be in medical distress in his stopped vehicle.

Upon arrival, officers found a vehicle with bullet holes in it and a deceased man inside. A firearm was also seized at the scene, though investigators are still working to determine its connection to the incident.

An autopsy on the man is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 24, 2017, to determine the cause of death.

Police later identified a potential second scene at a residence in the200 block of 10 Avenue N.E. Officers are securing the house while investigators work to determine what has occurred.

It is not believed there is a risk to the public outside of the containment area.

Centre Street was closed between 11 Avenue N., and 13 Avenue N., for the investigation. However, the road will be reopening shortly.
