Zoo Bridge Removal Rescheduled for Monday

The 12th Street Bridge, originally scheduled to be removed yesterday, has tentatively rescheduled to Monday, May 29, weather permitting. Low winds are required.

“Computer models calculated an estimated weight of the bridge. When it came time for the lift yesterday, the bridge weighed more than the estimates originally predicted. With safety always a priority, the combination of gusting winds and the additional weight of the bridge as a factor, the decision was made to postpone the lift,” said Sean Somers, a spokesperson with The City of Calgary.

This weekend, crews will remove some parts of the bridge to lighten its weight, and the lift is rescheduled for Monday.

We will inform the media via a release on the exact timing Monday once a schedule is firmed up.
