Woman dies following collision with youth cyclist
A woman has died following a collision with a youth cyclist on a pathway in northwest Calgary last week.
At about 3:55 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 2, 2025, a woman in her 50s and her husband were walking along a pathway north of Hidden Valley Drive N.W., when a 12-year-old youth on a bicycle approached from behind and collided with the woman, knocking her to the ground. The woman sustained serious injuries and was transported to the hospital in life-threatening condition.
Police were not notified of the incident at the time and did not attend the scene. The woman has since died from her injuries and police have started an investigation.
Impairment and speed are not considered to be factors in the collision, and the investigation remains ongoing.
