Woman charged in stabbing of security personnel
A woman faces several charges related to the stabbing of a man employed as security personnel in a downtown residential building.
On Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2023, shortly after 6 p.m., security personnel observed a woman in a residential apartment building in the 200 block of Fifth Avenue S.E. He did not recognize her as a resident and followed her to an upper floor where he observed the woman attempting to open apartment doors. The woman left the apartment shortly after, with the knife.
The security personnel continued to follow the woman from a distance until he suddenly came across her in a stairway. The victim was stabbed multiple times in the head before he was able to get control of the knife. The woman fled and another resident called 9-1-1. The victim was transported to hospital in serious condition.
The ensuing investigation identified the suspect and on Friday, Dec. 1, 2023, she was arrested in the downtown area.
Geanine Kelly SEATON, 30, who was bound by a probation order with conditions not to possess any weapons when the attack occurred, is charged with assault with a weapon, break and enter and two counts of breach of probation. She was also arrested on two outstanding warrants for theft and breach of probation. SEATON remains in custody and will next appear in court on Thursday, Dec. 7, 2023.
