Woman charged after serious assault at CTrain station

Officers have arrested and charged a woman after an assault that took place last night at the Marlborough CTrain station.

On Monday, Nov. 7, 2022, at approximately 6:45 p.m., police were called to the CTrain station, located at 899 36 St. N.E., for reports of a serious assault. Upon arrival, police officers located the victim, a woman in her 20s, suffering from serious head injuries. Officers provided first aid until EMS arrived and transported the victim to the hospital.

Officers circulated the area, however, were unable to locate the offender. Several hours later, at approximately 8:25 p.m., Calgary Transit notified police that a woman matching the suspect description had returned to the Marlborough CTrain Station. Police responded and after a brief foot pursuit, took her into custody inside the Tim Hortons located in the 500 block of 36 Street N.E.

Investigators are still working to determine if the victim and accused are known to each other as well as the motivation for this assault.

Shania Eileen HUNTER, 22, of Calgary has since been charged with one count each of assault with a weapon and possession of an imitation weapon for a dangerous purpose. HUNTER will next appear in court on Thursday, Dec. 1, 2022.
