Victims identified in Evanston double homicide

The Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit has identified the victims of a double homicide that occurred last week in the northwest community of Evanston.

At approximately 3:10 p.m., on Friday, April 20, 2018, police were called to the 0 to 100 block of Evanscrest Manor N.W., for reports of gunshots. When officers arrived, they found two individuals deceased in a vehicle.

Autopsies have been completed by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner and the victims have been formally identified as Joshua Brendan BAMFO, 25, and Mahad Abdirahman AINANSHE, 23, of Calgary.

On Sunday, April 22, 2018, homicide detectives took a person of interest into custody. That person has since been released without charges. Investigators continue to gather evidence related to the incident.
