Upper Mount Royal homicide victim identified

Our Homicide Unit continues to investigate after a man was found deceased in the southwest community of Upper Mount Royal last weekend.

On Sunday, July 3, 2022, at approximately 9:30 a.m., police were called for reports that a body was located in an alley behind the 1100 block of Frontenac Avenue S.W.

Upon arrival, officers located a deceased man, and the death is now considered to be a homicide.

An autopsy completed by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner identified the victim as Shawn Garry MCCORMACK, 34, of Calgary.

Investigators believe this was a targeted incident and are looking to speak with anyone who has information on the last known whereabouts of MCCORMACK or the events leading up to his death.

“We are seeking information from witnesses that can further our investigation,” says Acting Staff Sergeant Lee Treit of the Calgary Police Homicide Unit. “We are committed to following up on all investigative leads to find answers for the family and friends of the victim.”
