UPDATE: Suspicious death investigation – Arbour Lake

A suspicious death that occurred yesterday evening in the community of Arbour Lake is now being investigated as a homicide.

At approximately 8:30 p.m., on Thursday, March 31, 2022, emergency responders were called to the greenspace, located behind the 100 block of Arbour Meadows Close N.W., for reports of an injured male. Upon arrival, the male was located deceased.

An autopsy took place today, Friday, April 1, 2022, and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has identified the victim as Jal Acor JAL, 16, of Calgary.

“This is a shocking file as the victim is so young,” noted Homicide Unit Staff Sergeant Sean Gregson. “We continue to investigate and are interested in hearing from anyone who may know of the victim’s movements and who may have been with him last night.”

We are still looking for the public’s assistance for any information on suspicious activity Thursday night between 7 and 9 p.m. Residents in the area, specifically the 100 block of Arbour Meadows Close N.W., the 200 block of Schubert Place N.W., and 100 and 200 blocks of Scenic View Close N.W., are asked to check their property for anything suspicious and to share any dashcam footage.
