Update: Police respond to shooting in city’s southeast
We continue to investigate a targeted shooting that occurred between two motorists yesterday evening in the community of Radisson Heights. Although the investigation remains ongoing, we want to thank the public for coming forward with information in relation to this incident, as these tips have helped progress the investigation.
Anyone else who has information and has not yet spoken to police is asked to come forward. For anyone in the community who needs support, our Victim Assistance Support Team (VAST) will be in Radisson Heights this afternoon from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Community members are invited to attend the VAST community outreach trailer which will be set up near 12 Avenue S.E. and 27 Street S.E.
At approximately 6:55 p.m., on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, police were called to the 2700 block of 12 Avenue S.E., for reports of shots fired.
It is believed the suspect vehicle fired multiple shots into the victim’s vehicle. Occupants of the victim’s vehicle returned fire, striking the suspect’s vehicle multiple times. The suspect fled prior to police arrival.
The victim was transported to hospital in life-threatening condition, and shortly after was upgraded to stable condition. The victim remains in hospital in stable condition.
Another person who is believed to be connected to the incident sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was released from hospital a short time later.
No members of the public were injured during the shooting, however it is believed stray bullets struck nearby residences.
Four people were taken into custody following the incident, however, two have since been released. No charges have been laid at this time.
Investigators believe the shooting was a targeted incident which occurred as the result of organized crime conflict in Calgary and that there is no ongoing threat to the community.
“The level of violence displayed during this incident is very concerning,” says Staff Sgt. Matthew Gow of the Organized Crime and Offender Management Section. “Several shots were fired between two vehicles in a busy residential area where citizens were going about their day. We have dedicated a significant number of resources to investigate this shooting, as dangerous criminal activity that puts citizens at risk will not be tolerated in our city.
“Although we believe the incident was targeted, we saw a complete disregard for community safety play out in a very public setting. I want to thank those witnesses and those with information that have already come forward with tips, which have had a significant impact on the investigation.”
