Update: Police investigating string of residential break and enters

The individual previously identified as a person of interest in a string of residential break and enters has come forward. After speaking with him, it has been determined that he has no involvement in the incidents.

We continue to investigate the break and enters and ask anyone with information to contact police.

We are asking for the public’s help to identify a person of interest believed to have information in relation to a series of residential break and enters that occurred between Wednesday, Feb. 26 and Monday, March 3, 2025. Residences were targeted in neighbourhoods across the city including Aspen Woods, Britannia, Upper Mount Royal and Crescent Heights.

Investigators believe that between two and four suspects would gain access to the second floor of the residences, and once inside would target the primary bedrooms stealing high-value items such as jewelry, watches and clothing. It is believed that all of the incidents occurred between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m., and that the victims and their residences may have been under surveillance prior to and during the break and enters.

The amount of stolen property taken is estimated to be more than $2 million.

“Incidents like these have devastating impacts beyond losing valuable items; they leave a lasting emotional impact and affect communities’ sense of safety,” says Acting Inspector Travis Baker of the Calgary Police Service. “If you see suspicious activity, don’t approach the individuals, take down a description of the person or the vehicle and call police.”

While the investigation into these matters is ongoing and officers are working to identify and locate the suspects in these cases, we wanted to alert homeowners and provide information on prevention.

Crime prevention tips for homeowners

  • Lock up high-value items. If using a safe, make sure it is bolted to the floor.
  • Lower blinds/shades over windows during nighttime hours to reduce visibility into your home.
  • Consider investing in privacy lamination on windows.
  • Invest in a home security system, including cameras.
    •  Cover points of entry into your home.
    • Cover inside areas so you can monitor activity that may happen if someone gains entry to your home.
    • Ensure cameras are minimum 1080p resolution.
    • Increase lighting around the outside of a home to minimize dark areas people can hide in.
    • Get to know your neighbours and inform them if you’ll be away for an extended period of time.

Report

Know your neighbourhood and report any suspicious activity to police, such as anyone who may appear to be casing homes, by calling the non-emergency number 403-266-1234. Provide as much detail as possible:

  • Vehicles – license plate, colour, make, model, year, unique features such as stickers or damage.
  • People – physical descriptions, clothing and footwear.
