Update: Police investigate fatal CTrain collision

We have since identified the woman involved in the incident. Given the death is not suspicious, no further details will be released.

We are investigating a fatal collision that occurred last night, where a woman was struck by a CTrain in northeast Calgary.

At about 10:35 p.m. yesterday, Saturday, Nov. 11, 2023, a CTrain was travelling southbound on 36th Street N.E., crossing over 16th Avenue N.E., when a female pedestrian entered the path of the train in an area where there is no pedestrian access, and was struck.

The woman suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The train driver, who was not injured, stopped and remained at the scene.

Excessive speed, alcohol and drugs are not considered to be factors in the collision.

The CPS Traffic Section is investigating and working to identify the woman.
