Update: Fourth youth charged in homicide investigation
Following the announcement of three youth being charged in relation to the homicide of 16-year-old Carter SPIVAK-VILLENEUVE, a fourth youth has now been arrested and charged.
At approximately 1:20 a.m., on Friday, Aug. 1, 2025, we were called to the 300 block of Abergale Drive N.E., for reports of a person in medical distress. Upon arrival, officers located a deceased male, who was later identified as 16-year-old Carter SPIVAK-VILLENEUVE. An autopsy confirmed that Carter died as a result of a homicide.
Earlier this month, three 15-year-old males were arrested and charged with first-degree murder.
Following further investigation into the case, on Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2025, a 16-year-old male was taken into custody in Calgary. He has now been charged with one count of first-degree murder and will next appear in court today, Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2025.
The youths cannot be named under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
“We know that no arrest can take away the pain that Carter’s family is experiencing. Our thoughts remain with them as they continue to grieve,” says Staff Sgt. Sean Gregson of the CPS Homicide Unit. “At this time we are not looking for any additional suspects.”
