Update: Fatal shooting investigation in southeast Calgary

Our Homicide Unit continues working to establish the circumstances surrounding a shooting that occurred just before 10 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 18, 2023.

It is believed the shooting was a targeted incident and the deceased man and the suspect were known to each other. There is no danger to the public.

The surviving victim continues to recover in hospital.

No additional details will be available until after completion of the autopsy, which is scheduled for tomorrow, Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2023.

Anyone who believes they may have information about the incident, including CCTV or dashcam footage from the 1800 block of 35 Street S.E. between 9:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 18, 2023, is asked to contact police by calling 403-266-1234.

Fatal shooting investigation in southeast Calgary

One person was declared deceased and another transported to hospital in life-threatening condition last night following a shooting in southeast Calgary.

Just before 10 p.m., on Monday, Dec. 18, 2023, police were called to the 1800 block of 35 Street S.E., for a reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a man near a truck, who was declared deceased on scene. A seriously injured woman was located nearby.

The Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit is investigating and are asking anyone with information, photos or video to come forward and speak with police.

An autopsy for the man has been scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2023.
