Suspect in custody in connection to Lions Park CTrain Station assault

A woman is in custody and charges are pending following an altercation between several individuals believed to be known to each other.

On Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at approximately 8 p.m., we were called for reports of an assault involving a weapon at Lions Park CTrain Station. Our District Operations Team was in the area at the time of the call for service and were on scene immediately. Upon arrival, they determined an altercation between several people, all of which were women, had taken place and found two of the women suffering from what appeared to be stab wounds. One woman was transported to hospital in life-threatening condition, where she remains. Two other women who were involved in the incident were transported to hospital in non-life-threatening condition and have since been released.

It is believed the women were known to each other and this was not a random attack.

“Public spaces need to be safe for the public and this type of violent behavior will not be tolerated,” says Calgary Police Service Superintendent Cliff O’Brien. “Together with our partners at Calgary Transit, we have employed copious resources along our train lines and nearby communities to ensure those who need support are receiving it, while at the same time, ensuring those who would prey on the vulnerable or act in a dangerous manner are held to account. Transit lines are a designated safe space for the public and we will continue to work with our partners to strengthen public safety.”

One suspect is in custody and charges are pending. Further details pertaining to this incident will be shared as the investigation progresses.
