Update: Charges laid - Collision at Deerfoot and Beddington

The Calgary Police Service has charged a man following a serious collision that occurred early Sunday morning along Deerfoot Trail.

At approximately 5:15 a.m., on Sunday, March 5, 2017, a black Subaru Impreza was heading south in the northbound lanes of Deerfoot Trail near the exit ramp for Beddington Trail N.E. The vehicle had a head-on collision with a black Honda Civic heading north on Deerfoot Trail.

The driver of the Honda, a 30-year-old woman, and her two passengers were transported to hospital where they remain in serious condition.

The driver of the Subaru was uninjured and was arrested on scene and charged.

Alcohol is considered a factor in the collision.

Khoa Dang NGUYEN, 29, of Calgary, is charged with three counts each of driving while over the legal limit causing bodily harm, impaired driving causing bodily harm and dangerous driving causing bodily harm.

The investigation is ongoing and police are asking anyone with information on the collision to contact investigators by calling the Traffic Section at 403-567-4000.
