Update: Body discovered in southeast Calgary

The Calgary Police Service continues to investigate the death of man whose body was found in the southeast early yesterday.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has completed an autopsy and has identified the victim as Calvin Timothy BROOKER, 57, of Calgary.

BROOKER’s body was discovered by a passerby in the 2700 block of 41 A Avenue S.E., around 8:15 a.m., on Thursday, Sept. 1, 2016.

It is believed BROOKER was killed in his nearby home and his body moved to the alley. Investigators have secured the suspected crime scene and continue to collect evidence.

It is not believed BROOKER’s death was random and he likely knew his attacker.

BROOKER is Calgary’s 16th homicide of 2016. Cause of death is not being released at this time.
