Update #2: Information sought on vehicle involved in Kensington fatal shooting

Since last week, homicide detectives have followed a number of leads in the murder of Omarr Jamal CAMERON-BRAMWELL, who was shot in Kensington and located deceased in downtown Calgary. Investigators are releasing CCTV images of a vehicle they believe was involved and are seeking information from the public.

Investigators believe a dark-coloured Jeep Patriot was used in the shooting and was later set on fire. The vehicle was recovered in the early morning hours of Thursday, April 13, 2023, in the 6800 block of Rundlehorn Drive N.E. Suspect description(s) are limited at this time, however, nearby video captured a person wearing dark clothing and a light-coloured hood getting into the Jeep Patriot.

Anyone with information about the identity of the individual(s) or the vehicle involved, is asked to contact police. Anyone with dashcam footage or residential cameras in the following areas is also asked to contact police:

  • 9 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, in the area of Kensington, 10 Street N.W. and 16 Avenue N.W.
  • 4 a.m. to 5 a.m. on Thursday, April 13, 2023, in the 6800 block of Rundlehorn Drive N.E.

Kensington homicide victim identified

The victim of a fatal shooting that occurred in the Kensington area on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, has been identified.

An autopsy was conducted by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner on Thursday, April 13, 2023, to formally identify the victim as 23-year-old Omarr Jamal CAMERON-BRAMWELL of Edmonton.

The homicide remains under investigation and police are asking the public to come forward with any information related to this incident.

 Man dies following Kensington shooting

An autopsy has been scheduled for today, Thursday, April 13, 2023, to formally identify the victim of a fatal shooting that occurred last night in the Kensington area.

At approximately 9:30 p.m., on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, police were called to the 400 block of 10 Street N.W., for reports of gunshots in the area. Around the same time, the driver of a black SUV approached on-duty Calgary Fire Department members in the 1000 block of Sixth Avenue S.W., seeking help for a passenger in his vehicle that had been shot. CFD members attempted life-saving measures, but the passenger was declared deceased at the scene. The driver of the vehicle fled the area prior to CPS arrival.

Officers searched the Kensington area for evidence of the shooting and to ensure no bystanders were injured during the altercation. The investigation continues today as Homicide detectives follow several leads in relation to who may have been involved in this brazen public shooting.

Details about the identity of the victim will be released upon completion of the next of kin notifications and the autopsy.
