Update – Police lay charges in Bridlewood arson investigation
Our Arson Unit has charged a man in relation to an arson involving a home and detached garage in Bridlewood earlier this month.
At approximately 3 a.m. on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, we were called for reports of a fire involving a detached garage at a residence in the 100 block of Bridlewood Avenue S.W. Upon further investigation, our Arson Unit determined that two individuals entered the rear yard of the residence, deliberately set fire to the garage and attempted to set fire to the home before fleeing the area in a waiting vehicle.
As the investigation progressed, officers determined that the suspect vehicle involved was stolen. The District 6 operations team located the suspect with the stolen vehicle and arrested the suspect.
Investigators seized multiple items from the vehicle, including a shotgun, fentanyl and a hatchet. Clothing believed to be consistent with what was worn by one of the suspects at the time of the arson was also recovered.
As a result, Michael Keith CASELEY, 49, has been charged with:
- Arson with disregard for human life
- Possession of drugs
- Possession of stolen property over $5,000
- Possession of stolen property under $5,000
- Driving while disqualified
- Traffic offenses
CASELEY is facing additional charges pending examination of the firearm found in the vehicle at the time he was arrested. He is scheduled to next appear in court on Wednesday, April 22, 2026.
