UPDATE - Youth charged in officer-involved hit-and-run

Last month, a 15-year-old girl was charged in relation to an officer-involved hit-and-run that occurred in the northwest community of Huntington Hills.

At the time, only the one suspect was arrested, and police continued to follow up on investigative leads in pursuit of the driver. After further investigation, police have now identified a 17-year-old boy as the driver and are working to locate him. He cannot be named under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

The driver is wanted on warrants for:

·         One count of fail to stop after accident
·         One count of criminal flight from police
·         One count of possession of stolen property over $5,000
·         One count of fail to comply with sentence or disposition

“As police, it’s our duty to protect the public from incredibly reckless acts like this. Individuals that show no regard for the safety of our officers, or citizens need to be held responsible for their actions,” says Staff Sergeant Colin Chisholm.
