UPDATE - Police investigate suspicious death in Rundle

We have charged a man following a suspicious death in the northeast community of Rundle on Friday, Feb. 13, 2026. 

Cecil LAPP, 64, of Calgary, is charged with second-degree murder.  

His next court appearance is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 17.

Our Homicide Unit is on scene investigating a suspicious death that occurred in the northeast community of Rundle.

Today, Friday, Feb. 13, 2026, at around 6:20 a.m., we were called to a residence in the 100 block of Rundlecairn Road N.E., for reports of an assault.

Upon arrival, police located a man in his 50s suffering from life-threatening injuries. He was transported to hospital where he later died.

An autopsy will be completed Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2026, by The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

One man was taken into custody in relation to the assault. At this time, investigators are not looking for any other suspects.

This is believed to be a targeted incident and there is no threat to public safety.
