Update - Officer involved shooting - Thursday, Sept. 20, 2017

The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) is investigating following an officer involved shooting that occurred earlier today.

At approximately 4:15 p.m., on Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2017, officers responded to a domestic related call at a residence in the northeast. Upon arrival the suspect had left the scene. He was later tracked to a home in the 500 block of Markerville Road N.E. Officers had information that the man might be armed.

Several attempts were made to call out the suspect but were unsuccessful. At approximately 8:15 p.m., the suspect exited the garage. The matter continued to escalate resulting in the discharge of a Service firearm.

The suspect, a man in his 30s, was taken to hospital in life threatening condition.

No officers were injured during the incident.
