Update - homicide investigation

Homicide Unit investigators are releasing additional details of a suspicious death earlier this morning. This file is being investigated as a homicide.

The victim had responded to a break-and-enter alarm at his business around 3 a.m. He remained in the parking lot until approximately 6 a.m., waiting for the business to be secured, when he was approached by at least three offenders.

It is believed the three suspects were attempting to gain access into an adjoining cannabis store through the victim’s business in the 3800 block of Bow Trail S.W.

During the encounter, the victim suffered fatal injuries. He was able to walk a short distance to a nearby business where emergency crews were called.

Police are asking anyone with information about any cannabis store break and enters in the last month to contact the police non-emergency line at 403-266-1234 or the Homicide Unit Tip Line at 403-428-8877.

Additional details regarding this case will be released following the autopsy on Monday, March 16, 2020.
