UPDATE - Suspect in custody in night time break and enters

Harmandeep SIDHU, wanted on warrants in connection with a series of night time break and enters, has been arrested and is currently in police custody. The investigation continues and further information about his pending charges will be made available on Monday, Oct. 7, 2019.

Homeowners warned and suspect sought in night time break and enters

Police are asking homeowners to be vigilant about home security and are seeking assistance from the public to locate a man believed to be connected to nearly 20 break and enters in the last month.

The latest offence is believed to have occurred at approximately 4:30 a.m., this morning, Saturday, Oct. 5, 2019, in the community of Redstone. The suspect brandished a knife when confronted by the homeowner, before fleeing in the victim’s vehicle.

The suspect is believed to be connected to nearly 20 nighttime break and enters across north and northeast Calgary since the beginning of September. Residents were home during many of these offences. The Calgary Police Service Break and Enter Unit established an operation to identify and locate the suspect.

On Friday, Oct. 4, 2019, four night time break and enters occurred in the communities of Whitehorn and Coral Springs. The Fugitive Apprehension Team was brought in to assist in locating the suspect and a warrant was executed on a residence in the 0-100 block of Whitefield Crescent N.E., at 4 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 5.

It is believed the suspect fled the residence just prior to the execution of the search warrant and then committed the offence in Redstone.

Police are concerned for the safety of homeowners and are actively searching for 18-year-old Harmandeep SIDHU, currently wanted on six warrants in connection with these offences. SIDHU is described as 5’6” tall and approximately 130 pounds. A photo of him can be found on The City of Calgary Newsroom.

Anyone who knows of SIDHU’s whereabouts is asked to contact police immediately. Homeowners are advised to ensure doors and windows are locked, and to call 9-1-1 if they suspect there is an intruder in their home. Do not confront intruders if at all possible.
