Unidentified Human Remains Located

A preliminary autopsy done by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) has confirmed that the remains that were located yesterday, Thursday, April 24, 2025, are human.

Police were called to the 3400 block of Spruce Drive S.W., around 3:15 p.m., by a pedestrian in the area who had located what they believed were human remains. A forested area off a pathway was searched and several items were recovered.

 At this time, it is believed that the remains belong to a man over the age of 25, and that the body was at that location for some time. The identity, manner and cause of death remain under investigation. An anthropological exam by the OCME will occur next week.

Several more searches of the area are expected in the coming days.
