Two people charged with drug and weapons offences

We have charged two people with several gun possession and drug trafficking offenses.

In November, we became aware of two people believed to be selling drugs in the 0-100 block of Dermot Baldwin Way S.E.  The individuals were believed to be known to police.

Police officers with the Gun Violence Enforcement Team (GVET) monitored their activity and on Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2025, executed a search warrant at a residence in the 6000 block of Centre Street N.W.

As a result of that search, we seized an estimated $13,600 worth of drugs as well as weapons:

·         A loaded handgun

·         Two extended, loaded gun magazines 

·         114.5 grams of cocaine

·         32.8 grams of methamphetamine

·         16.9 grams of fentanyl

·         3.9 grams of Xanax

·         $22,530 in Canadian currency

Abdilkaafi IBRAHIM, 24, of Calgary was arrested at the residence and is charged with:

·         Five counts of possession of controlled substances for the purpose of trafficking

·         Two counts of careless storage of a firearm/prohibited device

·         One count of unauthorized possession of a firearm

·         One count of unauthorized possession of a prohibited device

·         One count of possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized

·         One count of possession of a prohibited device knowing its possession is unauthorized

·         One count of possession of loaded prohibited firearm

·         One count of possession of a firearm obtained by crime

·         Six counts of breaching of a firearms prohibition order

·         One count of proceeds of crime over $5,000

·         Two counts of breaching a release order

The seized handgun was determined to be stolen from a local business in June.

Abdilkaafi IBRAHIM’S next court appearance is scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2025.

On Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2025, we arrested Morningstar MOOSOMIN, 21, of Calgary, in the 0-100 block of Dermot Baldwin Way S.E.

MOOSOMIN is charged with:

·         Five counts of possession of controlled substances for the purpose of trafficking

·         One count of breaching of a release order

·         One count of possession of proceeds of crime under $5,000

·         Two outstanding warrants

Morning MOOSOMIN’S next court appearance is scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2025.

”Targeting vulnerable individuals where they need to access services, especially during cold weather, will not be tolerated,” said District 1 Inspector Jason Bobrowich. “It’s critical that we remain vigilant in protecting those who can’t protect themselves and our communities.”
