Two injured in assault downtown

UPDATE:

Police believe the incident occurred in the detached garage behind a residence in the 500 block of 14 Avenue S.W.

At this time, it is believed the victims and the attacker(s) are known to one another. No one is in custody at this time, however, investigators are working to develop a suspect description, and locate witnesses along with any available CCTV.

The male victim is now in serious but stable condition.

Two injured in assault downtown

The Calgary Police Service is currently investigating the serious assault of two people in downtown earlier today.

At approximately 10 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2017, police were called to the Sheldon Chumir Centre, 1213 4 Street S.W., for reports that a man had arrived in medical distress. A short time later, a woman entered the urgent care centre with serious injuries believed to be related to the same incident.

The male victim was transported to hospital in serious condition, the female victim is in stable condition.

The area has been cordoned off as police work to determine the exact location of the assault and what may have happened. Further information will be provided as it becomes available.
