Two firearms seized and charges laid following shooting investigation

We have charged four individuals in relation to a home invasion and shooting that occurred earlier this month in the city’s northeast.

On Monday, Jan. 2, 2023, at approximately 3:30 p.m., multiple individuals broke into an occupied residence located in the 200 block of Martindale Boulevard N.E. Once inside, the offenders assaulted the resident with a pistol and robbed him of multiple items, including cash, tools and electronics. During the altercation, offenders also fired the pistol, resulting in property damage inside the residence. The offenders fled the scene and the victim contacted police immediately. The victim sustained minor injuries as a result of this incident.

Upon arrival, officers obtained CCTV from the area and worked to identify potential suspects.

The next day, on Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2023, at approximately 10:30 a.m., a man and woman, who were believed to be involved in the home invasion, were arrested while in possession of a stolen vehicle in the 1200 block of 68 Street N.E. A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of a 12-gauge, short-barrel shotgun, ammunition and a crossbow.

As a result of further investigation, additional suspects for the home invasion were identified and on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2023, police executed a search warrant on a residence located in the 0 to 100 block of Applewood Court S.E. A search of the residence resulted in the seizure of a 3D-printed revolver-style pistol, multiple types of ammunition, a crossbow, a compound bow and a small amount of methamphetamine and cocaine.

Four individuals are now facing charges in relation to the home invasion. Investigators believe that this was a targeted incident and that the offenders were known to the victim.
