Two Alarm Building Fire in Bonnybrook
On June 5th, 2025, at approximately 5:10PM the Calgary Fire Department (CFD) was called to the southeast industrial community of Bonnybrook for a possible building fire. On arrival at the 4200 block of 17A street the CFD found a 2-story mechanical repair shop and parts shop with significant smoke and flames pushing from an open bay. Firefighters secured a water supply and began fighting the fire from the outside with large caliber hose lines. Due to the size and occupancy of the building and the resulting heavy fire conditions a second alarm was called to support the incident.
Fire crews used multiple hose lines to bring the fire under control and sent crews both interior and to the roof to end the spread of fire. Fire damage was extensive in the center of the building and smoke damage was throughout. Crews were able to quickly search and evacuate the businesses and all were able to escape unharmed. Crews from Atco and Enmax were on scene to isolate utilities, and Calgary Police Service provided necessary assistance controlling roads and the perimeter.
Crews will be on site through the night ensuring that there are no flareups of fire and assisting the investigator. The cause has yet to be determined. Smoke could be seen from several kilometers away and from Deerfoot Trail.
