Tip leads to discovery of drug dresser

A Crime Stoppers tip led investigators to a woman believed to be trafficking drugs in the areas of Elbow Drive and Forrest Lawn. During the execution of a search warrant on her home, officers discovered a unique secret storage compartment in a dresser where drugs were stored.

On Wednesday, July 3, 2024, officers from the District 1 Operations Team arrested the woman and executed search warrants on residences in the 300 block of Douglas Park Boulevard S.E., and the 6700 block of Elbow Drive S.W., as well as a 2022 Dodge Ram Rebel.

Street-level distribution amounts of methamphetamine, cocaine, crack cocaine and Fentanyl worth an estimated total of $9,030, along with $1,105 cash, scales, baggies, cell phones and a soda can with a false bottom were located.

During the search, officers discovered a stand-up dresser in the suspect’s bedroom with magnets nearby. When the officers slid the magnets across the top of the dresser, it unlocked internal mechanisms that opened a false top where drugs were stored. Jada Dee PEARCE, 45, has been charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking and one count of proceeds of crime. Additional charges are pending for breach of conditions of a release order and possession for the purpose of trafficking. PEARCE was released from custody and will next appear in court on Friday, Aug. 2, 2024.
