Three youths arrested in theft and robbery of bus driver
Three youths were arrested yesterday after a Calgary Transit bus driver was robbed at knife point.
At approximately 11:45 p.m., on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, a bus driver parked at the Erlton Station was approached by a youth who revealed a knife and demanded the driver’s phone. The driver was able to de-escalate the situation and the suspect left shortly after with an undisclosed amount of money. The youth joined a group of teens who were standing outside the bus.
The driver called police and officers quickly located the group at the intersection of 25 Avenue S.W. and Macleod Trail S., where they were arrested without incident.
Investigators believe the youths were connected to a liquor store robbery that occurred just before 11 p.m., in the 500 block of 11 Avenue S.W., where it was reported that a group of teens ran into the store and stole multiple bottles of liquor, valued at more than $200.
An 11-year-old boy was arrested in connection with the robbery of the bus driver. A child under the age of 12 cannot be charged with a criminal offense under the Criminal Code of Canada. He was released into the custody of his parent.
A 14-year-old girl was charged with one count of shoplifting and three counts of failure to comply with a release order.
Charges are pending against a 16-year-old girl in relation to the liquor store theft.
Youth cannot be named under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
