Three teens charged in northeast stabbing

Three teens have been charged following an investigation into an assault that occurred in the community of Westwinds earlier this week.

At approximately 9 p.m., on Sunday, March 15, 2026, we responded to reports of an assault on a man in the area of the McKnight-Westwinds LRT Station. Upon arrival, officers located a man suffering from injuries consistent with stab wounds.

It is believed that the victim had a brief interaction with three teenage boys, who then proceeded to assault him. During the assault, one teen produced a knife and stabbed the victim. They then stole the victim’s cell phone and fled the area. Additional officers responded to the scene and located three teens matching the description of the suspects a few blocks away from the incident. They were subsequently taken into custody.

The victim was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Tristan LUCAS, 18, of Calgary, has been charged with one count of aggravated assault and one count of robbery. He remains in custody and will next appear in court on Friday, March 20, 2026.

A 16-year-old has been charged with one count of robbery. He remains in custody and will next appear in court on Thursday, March 19, 2026.

A 14-year-old has been charged with one count of robbery. He was released from custody and will next appear in court on Wednesday, March 18, 2026.

The youths cannot be named under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

“It’s deeply disturbing to see young members of the community engaged in such violent behaviour,” says Calgary Police Service Staff Sgt. Mike Saad. “Thankfully, our members were able to respond quickly and locate the offenders to hold them accountable.”
