Three people charged in car dealership arson

We have charged three people with arson, following a fire at local luxury car dealership.

On Monday, March 16th, 2026, at approximately 4:45 a.m., a fire broke out at the dealership in the 5500 block of 1A Street S.W., causing extensive damage.

At the time of the fire, there were 25 luxury vehicles inside the building.

The total damage to the vehicles and buildings as a result of the fire is estimated to be $10 million.

Based on evidence recovered at the scene, investigators determined that the fire had been intentionally set.

After excavating and examining the site with Calgary Fire Department investigators, and viewing CCTV footage from the area, we were able to identify several suspects.

Over the next two months, we reviewed extensive amounts of CCTV, executed search warrants, and conducted interviews, resulting in charges being laid against three people.

Kais KASSOUA, 45, of Calgary, Logan DRAKE, 34, of Calgary, and Chayce Krause, 31, also of Calgary,  are each charged with one count of arson.

Kais KASSOUA’S next court appearance is scheduled for Wednesday, July 2, 2026.

Logan DRAKE and Chayce KRAUSE are currently remanded in custody and their next court appearance is scheduled for Wednesday, June 24, 2026.
