Three charged in commercial break and enter series

Two men and one woman have been charged in relation to a series of commercial break and enters that resulted in the theft of property valued at approximately $234,910.

Between Jan. 5 and 26, 2026, it is believed four businesses in the northeast community of Vista Heights were broken into and had property stolen. On Tuesday, Jan. 27, and Friday, Jan. 30, 2026, search warrants were executed on two residences located in the 600 and 1000 blocks of 17 Avenue S.W., and two vehicles.

The searches resulted in the seizure of:

  • Rare coins
  • Laptops
  • Human teeth that had valuable metals removed
  • Tools and equipment consistent with melting down precious metals

The recovered items have an approximate value of $34,915.

As a result, investigators arrested and charged three people.

Steven Edward HART, 42, of Calgary is charged with:

  • Six counts of commercial break and enter
  • Seven counts of trafficking stolen property
  • 13 counts of breaching a judicial order

He will next appear in court on Thursday, April 30, 2026.

Alston Jason VAN WEZEL, 48, of Calgary, is charged with:

  • 12 counts of commercial break and enter
  • One count of drug possession

He will next appear in court on Monday, April 27, 2026.

Erin Lindsay EMERSON, 49, of Calgary, is charged with:

  • Two counts of drug possession
  • One count of trafficking stolen property
  • One count of possession of stolen property
  • One count of possession of identity documents
  • Three counts of breaching a judicial order

She will next appear in court today, Friday, April 24, 2026.
