Three charged after stolen-vehicle incident

We have charged two men and a woman after a dangerous driving incident that resulted in numerous police resources being deployed throughout the city.

On Monday, June 22, 2026, at approximately 9:05 p.m., police responded to reports of a suspicious person attempting to tamper with a grey Volkswagen Jetta in the 100 block of Del Rio Place N.E. Officers attended the area and noticed two occupants inside the Jetta, which had been reported stolen earlier that day. As officers approached, the driver fled at a high rate of speed. Due to the dangerous driving behaviour observed, HAWCS was utilized to de‑escalate the incident while tracking the vehicle from a safe distance. The driver continued to drive dangerously, travelling through red lights and nearly causing several collisions.

A short time later, the Jetta was travelling southbound on Centre Street North when a Ford F‑150 pulled alongside it. The two occupants exited the Jetta and entered the F‑150. Police safely seized the Jetta while HAWCS continued to follow the F‑150.

The F‑150’s driving became increasingly dangerous. Due to the risk to the public, officers deployed a tire deflation device (TDD), and the truck came to a stop in the parking lot of the Real Canadian Superstore located at 3575 20th Ave. N.E. Three occupants of the truck, two men and a woman, exited the vehicle and entered the store. Officers went inside and located and arrested the three suspects.

Officers later determined the Ford F‑150 had also been reported stolen.

As the investigation continued, a search warrant was executed on both vehicles, resulting in the seizure of two airsoft guns, 14.1 grams of methamphetamine, multiple bank cards and an identification card.

As a result, Adrienne Elizabeth VISSER, 29, of Calgary, has been charged with:

·         Two counts of possession of stolen property over $5,000

·         One count of possession of a controlled substance

·         One count of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle

·         One count of flight from police

·         10 counts of failure to comply with a probation order

·         Four counts of failure to comply with release order conditions

·         One count of driving while disqualified or prohibited

·         One count of driving an uninsured motor vehicle

·         One count of abandoning a vehicle on a highway

·         One count of driving a motor vehicle while unauthorized

VISSER will next appear in court today, Friday, June 26, 2026.

Matthew Lee GROUETTE, 39, of Calgary, has been charged with:

·         One count of possession of stolen property over $5,000

·         One count of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle

·         One count of flight from police

·         One count of driving an uninsured motor vehicle

GROUETTE will next appear in court on Tuesday, July 7, 2026.

Lane Cole ZIMMER, 63, of Calgary, has been charged with:

·         Two counts of possession of stolen property over $5,000

·         Two counts of failure to comply with release order conditions

·         Two counts of possession of a prohibited firearm

·         One count of possession of a weapon dangerous to the public

ZIMMER will next appear in court on Tuesday, June 30, 2026.
