The City’s Financial Task Force Calling for Applicants
The City of Calgary is extending an invitation for members of the public to submit an expression of interest to become a member of The City of Calgary’s Financial Task Force. Up to 12 volunteers with specific expertise will be selected to explore and develop innovative solutions to our complex economic situation.
Council has approved a Financial Task Force to be comprised of the City’s Chief Financial Officer, Carla Male, as Chair and a panel of up to 12 external members with expertise in a variety of areas.
“The City remains committed to Calgary’s economic recovery. The Financial Task Force will formalize an important dialogue and think tank with public expertise that is focused on short-term mitigation options, long-term economic solutions and potential revenue options to improve our financial resiliency,” explains Carla Male, The City’s Acting Chief Financial Officer.
The group will discuss important topics that will support all Calgarians including expansion of the revenue base and revenue options, identification of incentives for a burgeoning private sector and working with the Priorities and Finance Committee working group on distribution of tax responsibilities among taxpayer groups.
The City is seeking members with expertise to share in the areas of economics, policy, accounting, finance, tax, fiscal policy, intergovernmental relations, private sector incentives, valuation and assessment.
Candidates are expected to be selected by September with scheduled meetings to run from September through November and as needed beyond that.
